Nickerson, E. L. (Edwin L.). Letters, 1862 July 7-November 28. 5 items. Location: Misc:N. Union soldier stationed at the Custom House in New Orleans during the Civil War. He served under General Benjamin Franklin Butler before he began drilling at camps Kearney and Stearns in the Reserve Brigade, under Brigadier General Godfrey Weitzel. Letters describe Nickerson's experiences at the Custom House, and in military training in Camp Kearney and Camp Stearns.
