Sam (Union soldier). Civil War Letter, undated 1 item. Location: Misc:S. Union soldier stationed in New Orleans in the Civil War. Letter describing the city, camp, and relating news of the war. Sam tells of heavy fighting up river, which he believes occured at Port Hudson, Louisiana; and explains that his regiment was left in New Orleans to guard the railroad and telegraph.
