Fred Kniffen was a Boyd professor at Louisiana State University who is credited with founding the LSU geography and anthropology program. This collection of notes is a multifaceted look at the personal life and early years of Kniffen. He makes frequent mention of fellow colleagues Richard J. Russell, Henry V.
