Edward Douglass White served three terms as a representative in the U.S. Congress, where he was member of the Whig Party and an ally of Henry Clay. After serving one term as governor of Louisiana from 1835 to 1839, he was reelected to Congress for two subsequent terms. Governor White appoints Charles W. Shaumburgh and Edward Rawk as associate judges of the City Court of New Orleans. Mss. 3907.
