Wiley worked as a librarian at the University of Tennessee, Vanderbilt University, the Library of Congress, the University of California at Berkeley, and the Peoria Public Library. Edwin Wiley at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C., writes to Dr. John Bell Henneman at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tenn., requesting a photograph of the library at the University of the South and describing his research into southern libraries during the colonial period.
