  • Ellzey, Cecil C., 1919 or 20-1999. Papers, 1944, 1983-1989. 5 items. Location: Misc. Colonel Cecil C. Ellzey, a native of Tylertown, Miss., and resident of Franklinton, La., served as an aerial reconnaissance pilot for the Eighth Infantry Division's artillery in Europe during World War II. Correspondence, church records, sermons, workshop materials, printed items, photographs and audio tapes reflect Evans's ministerial career in Baton Rouge, La., at First Baptist Church and Fellowship Church. Personal papers [some items in French], business records and genealogical material document the ancestry of Evans and his wife, Anita Louise, and provide insight into the personal lives of family members. Papers also furnish histories of Bienville and Natchitoches parishes and Saline, La., and relate to Caroline Dormon Nature Preserve and to Dormon's activities as a naturalist. Photographic print is of soldiers at the Central Officers Training School in Camp Pike, Arkansas. Camp Pike, founded in 1917, served as a training facility and a demobilization station during World War I. Identification information for some of the soldiers in the photograph is included in a photocopy. Mss. 5323.
  • Florance, Ernest T., (Ernest Tours) 1854-1918. Ernest T. Florance papers, 1916-1917. 8 letters. 1 photograph. Location: MISC:F. Ernest Tours Florance (1854-1918) was born in Pass Christian, Mississippi to Benjamin and Rebecca Florance. Florance was educated at Northwick College in London, and Lusher's Academy in New Orleans. He was admitted to the bar in 1875 and practiced law in New Orleans. He was president of the Commercial Law League of America. Florance also served as director of public schools in New Orleans from 1892 to 1898. The Ernest T. Florance Papers contain eight letters from Florance to Mrs. Norman Towne of Evanston, Illinois and one photograph of Florance. Topics discussed in the letters include World War I, New Orleans, Russia, travel, musical performances in New Orleans, art, classic books in Latin, and the Louisiana draft board. Mss. 5110.
  • Fontane, Doralice, 1905-1981. Papers, approximately 1910-1980, (bulk 1947-1978).1 linear ft. Location: OS:F, VAULT:1, Z:23. Doralice Fontane was a composer, and voice, piano, and organ teacher who composed several songs, notably "Give Me Louisiana," and "Let's March Together (People of the World)." The collection consists primarily of letters from Ms. Fontane promoting her music, acknowledgments from various individuals who were given complimentary copies of her song, and sheet music. Mss. 3622.
  • Fontenot, Ozemé and family. Papers, 1834-1949. 5 linear ft., 54 volumes. Location: UU:190-194; O:21; OS:F; 98:F. Planter of Grand Prairie, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana. Plantation, business records, correspondence of Ozemé Fontenot and family. Some relate to the marriage and divorce of daughter Alma Parker, and to her hospitalization in New Orleans. Papers also deal with United Confederate Veterans activities.   • Fox, Frank Cleveland, 1892-1982. Scrapbook, 1917-1980. 1 v., 20 items. Location: Mf. Frank Cleveland Fox of Rosedale, La., was drafted into the U.S. Army in September 1917 and trained with the 114th Field Signal Battalion at Camp Beauregard, La. The scrapbook contains personal letters, photographs, and military forms and records documenting Fox's service in the U.S. Army during World War I.   • Fraude, Wolfgang. Elegy, circa 1943. 1 item. Location: Misc. German soldier killed during the battle on the beachhead of Salerno, Italy, in September 1943. Typed manuscript signed with initials found by an American soldier. An original composition, in poetic prose, it deals with an episode which tests and reaffirms the comradeship between three soldiers. In German with English translation. Feliciana Lodge No. 31 (St. Francisville, Louisiana) was originally organized and chartered under the authority of the Grand Lodge of Kentucky in 1817 as Feliciana Lodge No. 46 and was the first English speaking lodge in the state outside of New Orleans. Collection is comprised of correspondence, newspaper clippings, photographs, speeches and legal papers relating to his tenure at LSU, military experience, and family matters. Papers also speeches, papers, photographs, and clippings concerning the Soviet Union. Mss. 3131.

Public affairs and personal correspondence, printed items, and written materials of Harry Pollard Gamble of New Orleans, Louisiana, political figure, secretary of the Louisiana Conservation Commission, and founder of the American Society for the Preservation of State Government and Racial Integrity (ASPSGRI). Materials primarily relate to conservation of natural resources, ASPSGRI, and his efforts in the fight to uphold segregation in Louisiana. Personal papers present are his completed and partial works of history and historical fiction (especially related to the Cane River area), family and business correspondence, including his son's World War II letters, and materials related to Gamble's football career at Louisiana State University. Comprised of official congressional files that document the political career of U.S. Senator Edward James Gay III. Files consist of correspondence, legal documents, and printed material pertaining to political campaigns, state and national elections, political patronage, legislative bills, Dept. of Agriculture, construction of levees by the Mississippi River Commission, and the participation in elections and political support of African-Americans. Legislative correspondence discusses pending bills concerning pensions, tariffs, health of rural populations, the creation of the Department of Education, and the transportation, storage and marketing of livestock. Files also contain selected subject materials relative to the American Legion bonus (1920), cotton, sugar, League of Nations (1919-1920), the United States Post Office, railroads, women's suffrage, and U. Material reflects the social activities, family life, travel and the genealogy of the Grisham-Kellogg-Faust family of Louisiana and Bolivar, Tenn. Included in the correspondence are World War I letters discussing logging in France, letters of college students, and picture postcards of plantations in Natchez, Miss. and Louisiana. Photographs include African American household employees, 1927 Mississippi River Flood, and portraits of Gov. Sam Jones, Gov. John McKeithen and Senator Russell Long. Mss. 5048.
