Porteous was born in Edinburgh, Scotland. Papers include documents related to Porteous' work at Star Plantation and at the stores. He was married to Alexandrine de la Chaise de Pradel and operated Mon Plaisir Plantation. Papers include correspondence of Jean Charles de Pradel and his wife. Member of a prominent Creole family; Justice of the Peace for the 2nd District of New Orleans, director of the Louisiana State Bank. Correspondence, essays, and business papers include letters describing civilian life in occupied New Orleans during the Civil War and conditions in the Confederate army. Location: 10:62. Louis Favrot Reynaud (1842-1921) was a physician and medical instructor born in Baton Rouge, La., and residing in New Orleans. The collection consists of picture postcards from the early 20th century. They depict scenes in New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and Shreveport, Louisiana. About half of the postcards are blank, while the majority of the others are addressed to L. F. Reynaud from his daughters.   • Rich, J. D. Papers, 1864-1867. 20 items. Location: A:119, OS:R. 1st lieutenant in the U.S. 80th Colored Infantry. Military correspondence, orders, telegraphs,legal papers, statements, and accounts related to Rich's duties as provost marshal. Materials reflect the administration of civil affairs such as education and legal disputes by the military, the effort to collect taxes and establish schools for freedmen, and aid given through the Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen, and Abandoned Lands.

Collection documents Brown's early Midwest travel and imprisonment in the Civil War; life in Tensas Parish, Louisiana, and, after 1877, his work in New Orleans as an engineer. Colonel in the 1st Louisiana Cavalry Volunteers, U.S. Army, under Major General Nathaniel P. Banks, Department of the Gulf, New Orleans. Robinson worked for the Central Pacific and Mexican International railroads after the war. Papers chiefly relate to Robinson's military career, including legal documents and letters concerning the investigation of his order to shoot two soldiers for refusal to obey orders (1864). Letter from Willaim Weeks Hall praises the job the military is doing during the war (presumably World War II) and the country's gratitude toward the soldiers. Postcards are of Baton Rouge, LSU, and New Orleans buildings and include, among others, images of the State Capitol and grounds, Huey Long pool at LSU, North Boulevard, the French House, general campus scenes (old and new campus), Charity Hospital, and the interior of the Roosevelt Hotel.
