Durell was a mayor of New Orleans, U.S. Judge for the District of Louisiana, and president of the Louisiana Constitutional Convention of 1864. In this letter, Edward H. Durell, as U.S. Judge for the District of Louisiana, orders Charles Claiborne to adjourn the U.S. District Court for the District of Louisiana for ten days. Personal letter from Lady Charlotte Durham to Mr. Bobins of Warwick Street, dated November 1806, asking him to arrange for someone to perform a task for her on Wednesday morning. Lady Durham also requests that Mr. Bobins speak with her any morning on or before Wednesday concerning her house. Mss. 822.
  • Durieux, Caroline, 1896-. Oral history interview, 1975 March 31. 1 sound cassette (1 hour), Transcript (28 pages). Location: L:4700.13. Lithographer, painter, and educator of Baton Rouge. Durieux was a professor emeritus of graphic arts at LSU and was involved with literary and artistic programs sponsored by the Works Progress Administration. Interview concerns Durieux's work with, and the importance of, the W.P.A. Federal Art Project in Louisiana and New Orleans during the 1930s. Topics include the purpose, importance, and effect of the project and the work of African American artists. James Durnin was a resident of St. Helena Parish, Louisiana, and Confederate soldier in the Civil War, serving in Louisiana and Mississippi. John Durnin, a brother, also served in the Confederate army. Papers include correspondence, bills, accounts, clippings of the Durnin family. Correspondence includes Civil War letters of James and John Durnin. Bound volumes include 3 cash books; a minute book of the Pickwick Baseball Club, Amite City, Louisiana; and a notebook with a list of music pieces and some scores.
