  • Glenk, Robert. Letter and French Opera House Lithograph, 1900-1925. 2 items. Location: Misc.:G, OS:G. Robert Glenk was the Chief Curator for the Louisiana State Museum. Letter from Robert Glenk to the wife of James Gallier, Jr., Algae Villavaso, asking for materials for a Louisiana State Museum exhibit featuring Louisiana architects (Sept. 14, 1925). James Gallier, Jr. was a prominent architect in New Orleans. The letter includes a lithograph by Gallier of the interior of the French Opera House, which was located on Toulouse and Bourbon Streets (circa 1900-1919). Mss. 5169.

Business papers of Golsan Brothers consisting chiefly of bills and receipts for merchandise, printing, and advertising; waybills; invoices for cotton purchased; bank checks; trial balance sheets; telegrams; statements of account; and correspondence.   • Good Hope Plantation: Papers, 1864-1867 (bulk 1865). .5 linear ft. (100 items). Location: U:145. Papers indicate that George Gilson Klapp of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and James D. Waters leased Tyconia Plantation in Concordia Parish, Louisiana, in 1864. Klapp and Waters jointly leased Good Hope and Hermitage plantations during 1865 and 1866. Papers focus largely on the operation and management of Good Hope and Hermitage cotton plantations in Concordia Parish, Louisiana. Legal papers include a plantation lease agreement, mule loans, an arms permit, and labor agreements with freedmen. Financial papers include promissory notes; receipts for goods, services, and taxes; and accounts of merchandise purchased by laborers. Goodridge to Gideon Wells, U.S. Secretary of the Navy, concerns the Direct Tax bill before the U.S. Congress, and its financial impact. The collection consists of two original 1863-1864 diaries of Josiah Goodwin, kept during his service in the Mississippi Marine Brigade aboard various U.S. Steamers along the river in Louisiana and Mississippi. In addition are research materials compiled by William C. Wiseley, PhD, in his study of the diaries. These include biographical information on Goodwin, photocopies of Goodwin's service record, photoprints of portraits and other Civil War images, and an annotated transcription of the diaries. Gordon, Forstall, and Co. were merchants in New Orleans, La. with in Mexico that dealt in items such as sugar and woolens. Manuscript copies of multiple letters and financial statements from 1832 exchanged between the merchants representing Gordon, Forstall, and Co. in Mexico, and the office in New Orleans refer to stock status, account information, foreign relations, poor sales, the political climate in Mexico, and how smugglers and imposed taxes by the local government were making business increasingly difficult.
