Daybooks contain records of merchandise sold at Haas' general store in Bayou Chicot, originally located in St. Landry Parish and then Evangeline Parish once the latter was created. Haas, Samuel. Letterpress copybook, 1886-1887. 1 volume [on microfilm reel]. Location: MSS.MF:H. Born in Alsace, France and of Jewish descent. He immigrated to the United States around 1852 and operated a store in Bayou Chicot, Evangeline Parish. Letters are primarily to business associates and to friends in Avoyelles, Rapides, and (at that time) St. Landry parishes and New Orleans. A few personal letters, mainly to family members, are present. The book discusses contributions from residents in St. Landry Parish for the Jewish Widows and Orphans Home in New Orleans and for the rebuilding of a synagogue in Ingville, Germany. Mestayer, Marcelite (Segura). Photographs and newspaper clippings, 1929, circa 1990, undated. 19 copy prints [3.5 x 5 in.], 20 copy prints [5 x 7 in.], 4 photocopies. Location: 65:60. Resident of New Iberia, La., and a student at Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, La. Of these photographs, 20 are unique images. Photographs were copied from Mestayer's college scrapbook (1929-1930). They include images of Mestayer, an LSU agricultural parade, young men in black face, the LSU marching band, campus buildings, and the experimental television station in Shreveport, La. Newspaper clippings describe the agricultural fair where Mestayer was elected "Goddess of Agriculture." Mss. 4365.

Boyd and a sugar chemist and professor. Papers relate to Boyd's position as a sugar chemist at the Imperial College of Tropical Agriculture in Trinidad, British West Indies. Two broadsides pertain to the U.S.' military control of the Dominican Republic during Woodrow Wilson's administration. Papers include notarized copies of legal documents (chiefly mortgage documents, but also court judgments) and miscellaneous financial documents (receipts, bills, checks, and deposit slips). Of particular interest is a property appraisal document (April 19, 1842) that lists the first names of slaves. Appraisal document is for a legal case involving James Drummond and the Clinton and Port Hudson Railroad Company. Part of the East Feliciana Parish Archives Collection. Mss. 1100.
