Collection consists of photographic copies and a bound typescript of correspondence. Goree's Civil War letters are written from Longstreet's headquarters in Virginia and are addressed to friends and family members in Texas. A copy of a diary kept by Goree describes a journey from Appomattox Court House, Virginia, to Talladega, Alabama, in the company of James Longstreet, Longstreet's son Garland, and a African American servant.
