McMullan, T. N. Photograph collection, 1945, undated. 230 photographic prints, 22 items. Location: W:37. Intelligence officer during World War II and was dean of the LSU Libraries between 1961 and 1973. The 230 photographs, taken by McMullan when stationed in the Philippine Islands, record the surrender of Japanese forces, war damage, and scenes in Manila and elsewhere in the islands. A small number of photomechanical prints, slides, clippings, leaflets, and picture postcards are also included. Mss. 2750.

Druggist, founder of Bergen Brunswig Corporation, Journal contains short essays written during a tour of France; each location after WWI. He describes damages suffered during the war and postwar reconstruction and rehabilitation. He writes character sketches of French leaders; discusses American-European political, economic, and human interest issues; and expresses his anti-German sentiment. Coco family. Papers, circa 1885-2009 (bulk 1964-2008). 12 linear ft., 1 compact disc. Location: AA:, OS:C, X:4-13. Residents of Mansura, Avoyelles Parish, Louisiana. Materials include personal and professional correspondence, printed items, personal papers, recordings (available for access on compact disc), and photographic items. Personal correspondence pertains primarily to the lives of Merlin, Lucy, Greg, and Linda. Major topics include family life and local matters in Mansura, the education of Greg and Lucy, and Greg's enlistment in the U.S. Army and activities in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. Professional correspondence documents mostly Greg's career as a park ranger in Gettysburg. Printed items, personal papers, and photographic items pertain chiefly to Coco family history and the lives of the aforementioned Coco family members. Recordings were created by Greg while in Vietnam and document his experiences there. Mss. 5019.

Description
White, Bernice B. Photograph album, circa 1941-1942. 0.1 linear ft. Location: T:66. Nurse in the United States Army Nurse Corps during World War II. Photograph album (all pages are loose) depicts life for U.S. Army nurses and soldiers at Camp Beauregard and possibly Camp Livingston in Rapides Parish and Grant Parish, Louisiana. Black and white photographic prints of note show troops marching (pages 1-2), nurses posing in front of airplanes (page 1-2), nurses posing in front of a Red Cross truck (page 4), nurses and soldiers posing in front of a Regal Beer truck (pages 4 and 7), a soldier suffering from the effects of poison ivy (page 7), the Camp Beauregard water tower (page 8), nurses outside of the Camp Beauregard Club (page 10), and other scenes of camp life. Bernice is featured in a photograph with two other nurses (the middle nurse; page 8). Mss. 5391.

Manuscript Collections Harding Field Heroes File Finding Aid
Description
Harding Field Heroes File, 1941-1946 (bulk 1944-1945). 2.5 linear feet. Location: 78:48-50, OS:H, Room 304. Harding Field was a United States Army Air Corps base located nine miles north of Baton Rouge, La., that operated between 1941 and 1945. From February 1944 to March 1945, Colonel W.G. Schauffler Jr. (1891-1951) was the commanding officer at Harding Field. In June 1944, Col. Schauffler was informed that his only son had been killed in action over the Pacific theater which led directly to the development of the Harding Field Heroes File. The collection includes letters, photographs, and newspaper clippings solicited by Col. Schauffler and sent by next of kin of pilots who graduated from Harding Field. The collection also contains newspaper clippings about the airbase which range from the establishment of the base in 1941 to its decommissioning in 1945. It contains 51 photographs of groups of pilots, individual portraits, and pinning ceremonies. It also contains a casualty list and a painting with the "72 Fighter Wing" emblem. Mss. 0893.

She lived on the plantation with her aunt, Kate Scott. Papers include correspondence (1866-1877) written to Bettie Gordon Scott and family papers (1892-1900). Papers (1900-1959) include correspondence of Eva and Kate Scott. Cards and letters of Lyle Saxon and Sherwood Anderson are included. Business papers (1853-1941) pertain to the administration of The Shades Plantation. Manuscript volumes include 5 ledgers (1889-1913) recording supplies and wages paid to hired laborers. Description
LSU Pershing Rifles Records, 1940-1978 (bulk 1963-1971) Location 11:1-2.The Pershing Rifles is a national military honors society for ROTC cadets and midshipmen that participates in military drill exercises. It was established in 1894 at the University of Nebraska- Lincoln. At LSU, the Pershing Rifle Corps detachment was established in 1940.The seven boxes of materials contained in these records were donated by a former member of LSU’s Pershing Rifle Corps. The collection is comprised of photographs, news clippings, magazines, instruction manuals, posters, bylaws, Gumbo yearbook page photocopies, scrapbooks, a guidon flag and a unit patch. All items date from the mid-twentieth century.

Included is correspondence from prominent Louisiana residents and others. Letters from Anna Butler who lived in the White House (1849-1850) Collection also contains manuscript and published music, including the music of John Thuer.
