Haas, Samuel. Letterpress copybook, 1886-1887. 1 volume [on microfilm reel]. Location: MSS.MF:H. Born in Alsace, France and of Jewish descent. He immigrated to the United States around 1852 and operated a store in Bayou Chicot, Evangeline Parish. Letters are primarily to business associates and to friends in Avoyelles, Rapides, and (at that time) St. Landry parishes and New Orleans. A few personal letters, mainly to family members, are present. The book discusses contributions from residents in St. Landry Parish for the Jewish Widows and Orphans Home in New Orleans and for the rebuilding of a synagogue in Ingville, Germany. Granberry, Stephen H. (Stephen Henry). Priest's register. 1873-1876. 1 vol. Location: H:14. Deacon of the Episcopal Church in Terry, Mississippi, in early 1874. Ordained as a Priest in March 1874 and shortly thereafter moved to Trinity Parish in New Orleans, where he served as Assistant to the Rector, Reverend Samuel S. Harris. Register includes marriages, baptisms, burials, confirmations, and services held in Mississippi and Louisiana. Mss. 4501.

Organization established in New Orleans in 1889 to unite all associations of Confederate veterans, maintain ties between veterans, care for the disabled, collect data, and preserve records of service of its members. Collection contains official documents of the association, including correspondence, membership records, administrative records, printed items, logbooks, ledgers, and letters from soldiers during the Civil War. Randolph of Alexandria, La. Grimmer writes to Randolph, a member of the Louisiana State Board of Health, seeking a favor and the latter's help in obtaining a position as a coal oil inspector on the board. Mss. 5330.

Belew, Louise E. Letters and writings, 1961-1969, undated. 12 letters, 1 article. Location: MISC:B. Resident of Baton Rouge, La. and New Orleans, La.; Korean war veteran; and student at the Louisiana State University (LSU) Graduate School of Library Science. Letters document Belew's ongoing feuds and criticisms that she had with staff of the LSU Library, the LSU Graduate School of Library Science, and the New Orleans Public Library. Mss. 2625.

Simms, Mary Cannon. Memoir, circa 1942. 15 pages. Location: MISC:S. Native of Plaquemines Parish. Memoir (copy of a typewritten manuscript) recounts events including "the big gale of 1860" (a hurricane); the death of family members because of a yellow fever outbreak in 1878; and the New Orleans Levee Board forcing Simms to sell family land. Long with notations on verso, written possibly by Blanche Long and Earl K. Long. Notations designate postcard as an invitation to Earl K. Long's inaugural ball. Mailing envelopes have the letterhead of Orleans Parish district attorney Jim Garrison printed on them. Mss. 5338.

Papers include a concert poster, three photographic prints, three picture postcards, a letter, and a Christmas card. Concert poster shows Allen Toussaint, Tuts Washington, and Professor Longhair (circa 1983). Picture postcards are advertisements for an airing of Palfi's "Piano Players Rarely Ever Play Together" documentary. Photographic prints are of Palfi with Toussaint, Glen Campbell, and Martin Sheen.
