Naval records documenting Civil War operations of the USS Commodore as it patrolled the navigable waterways of Louisiana in order to prevent the South from trading with other countries. Records consist of reports, correspondence, orders, and lists of seamen and Naval officers. Papers also contain some records of the USS Vincennes. Mss. 5066.

There are also volumes relating to personal matters, Civil War letters and items, and the bylaws and rules of a chapter of the Royal Arch Masons.
