  • Renner, Frank, 1892-1978. Papers, 1892-1980 (bulk 1942-1978). 0.6 linear feet. Location: 119:10. Frank Renner was a naturalized citizen who emigrated from Austria and settled in Franklinton, La. The collection consists of 27 volumes of diaries and booklets. The diaries contain Renner's meticulous notes on the weather and the people to whom he wrote correspondence. Subjects discussed in the diaries include religion, personal ailments, and financial advice. Mss. 3442.

  • Retif, P. E. Letters, 1864. 2 items. Location: Misc:R. Confederate soldier and member of the Orleans Guard Battery during the Civil War. He became a prisoner of war and was paroled from Greensboro, North Carolina, in April 1865. Letters written to Retif's mother from Charleston, South Carolina, express concerns about his family and his views on the war. Retif also implies that the letters are being smuggled through Union-controlled areas. Charles Reynard was a law professor at Louisiana State and an advocate of desegregation in Louisiana schools. Marian Reynard Baun was a psychology professor and community activist in Baton Rouge. The papers include correspondence, meeting minutes, newspaper clippings, photocopies of scrapbooks, and other printed materials. Her collection contains personal papers, records from her involvement with the Committee on Campus Life and Committee on Women, and papers from her work as a member of the Friends of Public Education Board. Location: 10:62. Louis Favrot Reynaud (1842-1921) was a physician and medical instructor born in Baton Rouge, La., and residing in New Orleans. The collection consists of picture postcards from the early 20th century. They depict scenes in New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and Shreveport, Louisiana. About half of the postcards are blank, while the majority of the others are addressed to L. F. Reynaud from his daughters. Correspondence and legal and business papers pertaining to national and local politics, land administration and sales, and the Grange movement. Included is a broadside soliciting assistance of Grangers to complete construction of the Washington Monument. The collection also contains a U.S. military railroad map; bills, receipts, and tax documents; newspaper clippings; notebooks; photographs; and personal items including recipes. Reynès was Justice of the Peace for the 2nd District of New Orleans and was later appointed as director of the Louisiana State Bank. Correspondence, essays, and business papers include letters describing civilian life in occupied New Orleans during the Civil War and conditions in the Confederate army. Physics professor at LSU until 1965, when he was promoted to the office of Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, and then to positions of greater responsibility, culminating in his term as Vice President for Academic Affairs. Collection documenting Dr. Reynolds' scholarly and administrative activities at LSU, and his extensive involvement in groups that directly influenced national and cooperative efforts in space science.
