Letter written by Thompson requesting a correction be made to a published article about the extent of Thompson's support for the policies of President Polk's administration. Calley in Huntsville, Ala., describing his journey from Huntsville to Glasgow via Russellville, Ala.; Moscow, Tenn.; Memphis, Tenn.; and St. Louis, Mo. He especially describes Memphis, St. Louis, and Glasgow. Mss. 4099.
  • Thorn, (Jesse) Dale, (1942-2014) 1978-2013 (bulk 1981-1986) 1.25 linear feet. Location 43:69. The materials in the Dale Thorn Papers consist of legal documents related to US v. Louisiana and the establishment of a higher education consent decree, professional writings and journal articles related to higher education administration, photographs and drafts for a book written by Thorn, greeting cards and materials from the Public Relations Society of America. Dale Thorn was a journalist, press secretary, director of higher education in Louisiana and a journalism professor at LSU. He was born on October 7, 1942 in Brandon, Mississippi. He taught at LSU and was press secretary to Edwin Edwards during his first two terms as governor. He died on May 8, 2014.

His brother, Charles Frank Thrasher, and Frank's wife Alice lived on a houseboat on the Mississippi River. Letters from Frank and Alice Thrasher document Frank's work as a tinsmith and life on the houseboat Eureka, including people and places seen during their journey up the Mississippi River from New Orleans. A native of Massachusetts, Tibbetts and his wife corresponded with his brother John C. Tibbetts in Boston and New Hampshire. Letters primarily to John C. Tibbetts deal with planter-slave relations, and plantation and family news. Topics include Christmas festivities; a wedding held in the slave quarters; and the prevalence of cholera. A partial letter (ca. 1850) provides analysis of the political situation in Louisiana and Mississippi following the Compromise of 1850. For further information, see online catalog.   • Tichenor, George H., 1837-1923. Diaries, 1861-1917 (bulk 1861-1863). 2 items; 3 v. Location: H:20, Misc:T, OS:T. Kentucky native served in the Confederate Army. Wounded in battle near Memphis, Tennessee, he is said to have developed an antiseptic formula as a result of experiments on himself. Diaries illustrate daily events; lack of provisions; and battle engagements in Mississippi, Tennessee, Alabama, and Kentucky. They also document sentiments concerning conscription and Union troops deserting to the Confederacy.
