  • Cobban, James. Memorandum, circa 1832-1857. 1 memorandum. Location: MISC: C. Dr. James Cobban was born in Scotland, moved to Halton, Canada in 1832, and served as a physician in the Ontario region for 25 years. This is an undated memorandum of lands in Upper Canada purchased for John Morison by Dr. James Cobban of Ontario. Lands purchased include three lots in the township of Moore in the county of Kent and two lots in the township of Caledon about thirty miles from Toronto. Mss. 822.

Materials include personal and professional correspondence, printed items, personal papers, recordings (available for access on compact disc), and photographic items. Personal correspondence pertains primarily to the lives of Merlin, Lucy, Greg, and Linda. Major topics include family life and local matters in Mansura, the education of Greg and Lucy, and Greg's enlistment in the U.S. Army and activities in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. Professional correspondence documents mostly Greg's career as a park ranger in Gettysburg. Printed items, personal papers, and photographic items pertain chiefly to Coco family history and the lives of the aforementioned Coco family members. Letters and postcards written by Andrei Codrescu to his publisher, Stuart Lavin, regarding publication of Codrescu’s work. Also included is a newspaper clipping of an article by Codrescu on the Amish community (April 4, 1981). The clipping accompanies an unrelated letter (Jan. 24, 1977).   • Coggins, Paschal. Estate sale inventory, 1824 July 21. 1 inventory. Location: Misc. This inventory documenting the sale of the estate of Paschal Coggins, a cobbler of New Orleans, La., was compiled by Charles Byrne for the benefit of David Coggins of Philadelphia, Pa. David Coggins was represented by Samuel Grant and Joseph R. Jenks, also of Philadelphia. The estate was composed mostly of shoes that were sold in lots at various times during the year 1823 for $440.73. Mss. 3963.
