Tobey's patent bark mill, an improved iron mill to grind bark, corn, dye-woods, etc., in 1813. Luther Gale grants power of attorney to Bush G. Brown of New York, N.Y., and Gilbert Potter of New London, Conn., to act as his agents in Louisiana and Mississippi, both to sell single rights to use his mill and to prosecute anyone they find using his mill without permission.   • Galveztown Documents, 1777-1793. 29 items. Location: Misc.:G. Gilbert Antoine de St. Maxent was sent by Governor Bernardo de Gálvez in 1778 to settle Islenos (immigrants to Louisiana from the Canary Islands) at Galveztown, which was located at the junction of the Amite River and Bayou Manchac, to be a military stronghold against the British in West Florida. Galvestown soon lost its importance as a military post and began to decline from disease, floods, hurricanes, droughts, and high shipping costs. The present day community of Galvez, La., is located just west of the original Galveztown. Mss. 3990.

Public affairs and personal correspondence, printed items, and written materials of Harry Pollard Gamble of New Orleans, Louisiana, political figure, secretary of the Louisiana Conservation Commission, and founder of the American Society for the Preservation of State Government and Racial Integrity (ASPSGRI). Materials primarily relate to conservation of natural resources, ASPSGRI, and his efforts in the fight to uphold segregation in Louisiana. Personal papers present are his completed and partial works of history and historical fiction (especially related to the Cane River area), family and business correspondence, including his son's World War II letters, and materials related to Gamble's football career at Louisiana State University.
