Early papers of a New Orleans merchant, John Hagan, relate to land transactions involving Gilbert Marquis de Lafayette, Zachary Taylor, and George Washington Lafayette. Civil War-related items include an invitation to the reunion of the Third Alabama Cavalry and Confederate currency issued as payment for service in the Confederate army. Culbertson about Haile's stay at Paul Hebert's Bayou Goulas Plantation (La.). Haile also discusses his stay at Dunboyne Plantation, owned by relatives of George Washington, and his interactions with the host families and their servant staffs. Peter Hall (1751-1842), son of Henry Hall (1712-1785) and Joanna Sargent Hall (1715-1793), was born in Chester, Rockingham, New Hampshire on June 9, 1751 and was a member of the Presbyterian parish church in Chester. This is two copies of a letter dated June 25, 1850 from Abel G. Quigg concerning the succession of Peter Hall of Chester, Rockingham, New Hampshire. Mr. Quigg was chairman of a committee tasked with granting Henry Hall his share of real estate previously owned by the late Peter Hall. Mss. 822.

  • Hamilton McCracklin Bounty Warrant, 1853-1862. 1 item. Location: OS:Mc. Bounty warrant issued Feb. 24, 1853, awards forty acres of land to a private in Capt. Edward's company in the Louisiana Militia, for his participation in the Florida War. Notaries public attest the transfer of the property that was located in Jefferson County, Ky. (1855-1862). Naval records documenting Civil War operations of the USS Commodore as it patrolled the navigable waterways of Louisiana in order to prevent the South from trading with other countries. Records consist of reports, correspondence, orders, and lists of seamen and Naval officers. Papers also contain some records of the USS Vincennes. Mss. 5066.
