Typed transcription (1928) of Civil War letter written by Captain S.A. Hayden of the 16th Louisiana Infantry under the command of General John B. Hood at Nashville, Tenn. Retif also implies that the letters are being smuggled through Union-controlled areas. Hinson's letters to his wife Mattie of Bastrop, Morehouse Parish, Louisiana, describe scenery along the line of march from Van Buren, Arkansas, to Maysville, Missouri, and military events under the leadership of Colonel Hyams and General McCulloch.
