Speights family. Papers, 1842-1870. 1 microfilm reel, 12 photocopies. Location: MISC:S, MSS.MF:S. Stephen Alexander Speights was a resident of Lawrence County, Mississippi. Papers include family correspondence, chiefly between Lamon Speights and his son, Stephen Alexander Speights, including two Civil War letters; and a copy of birth, marriage, and death records from a Bible owned by Reverend J. D. Slay. Except for the two Civil War letters, all papers are handwritten transcriptions of the originals. Several letters from the papers are also available as photocopies. Bernard operated the A. M. Bernard Wagon Works in New Iberia (circa 1886-1958). Papers include business, legal, and financial papers related to the A.M. Bernard Wagon Works and other family concerns, including a syrup plant, oil and gas leases, sulphur mines, land holdings, and livestock operations. Included are a broadside soliciting funds for Methodist Episcopal missionary activities in Africa, and a map (1885) of Louisiana by the Bureau of Immigration. Lytle, Andrew D. Family collection, circa 1824-1981 (bulk 1880-1915).  2.5 linear ft., 25 volumes, 50 artifacts. Location: 5:, 17:, OS:L. Photographer of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. This collection contains family papers, printed items, photographs, and artifacts relating to the Andrew D. Lytle family and the related Dickinson family. Family papers relate to family matters and genealogy. Printed items include newspaper clippings, prayer books, poetry, and picture postcards. Postcards were produced as souvenir postcards and depict scenes in Louisiana, Colorado, Ohio, and Winnipeg, Canada. Some postcards depict African-Americans as childlike (circa 1905). Photographs are in multiple formats that were produced professionally consisting of individual portraits and group photographs, including LSU cadets (1910-1911). Of note is a scene of a large African American group gathered at a river for a baptism (circa 1905). A variety of objects comprise the artifacts. They include jewelry, an evening bag, textiles, buckles, a flute, pins, and ribbons. Several artifacts represent chapters of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and Knights of Pythias. Mss. 5207.
