LSU Library can only accept one form of ID as a patron's library card depending on their user status:
- Current LSU faculty, staff, and students must use their TigerCard
- Public patrons should use their state-issued ID (such as their drivers license) To check out books and other items, please present your TigerCard or state ID at the checkout desk in room 241 or use the self-checkout machine in room 141. Study rooms are outfitted with a large display screen, which have HDMI and USB-C connectors that allow patrons to connect their personal devices. Screens in student meeting rooms are also connected to a PC. The checkout desk in room 241 circulates study room kits that include a remote for the display screens and a keyboard and mouse for the PCs. If you are having trouble with a laptop that you borrowed from the library, you will need to return it as soon as possible. We will need to send it to ITS so that they can evaluate the device. ITS does not recommend using physically damaged laptops as they are unstable. They may malfunction and prevent you from accessing your files or doing required coursework. Yes, all current faculty, staff, and students may borrow library materials from the main LSU Library upon presentation of a valid TigerCard. Members of the faculty and staff who retire also retain their borrowing privileges. Presentation of a retiree identification card is required to exercise these privileges. Due to licensing restrictions, off-campus access to databases is generally reserved only for current LSU faculty, staff, and students. On-campus access should be available to anyone connected to the LSU Wireless network. Because public patrons do not have access to LSU Wi-Fi, LSU Library houses a few public access computers in room 241. Non-affiliates and public patrons who are able to visit in person will have full access to databases using these computers. There are three different ways you can renew your LSU Library books:
- In-person: Bring your items to the checkout desk in room 241 of LSU Library. Be sure to bring your TigerCard or public patron ID.
- Online: Log into your online library account (link below) and select the "Checkouts" tab.
