This letter is written by Pierre Soule? to Secretary of War, Jefferson Davis, regarding Soule?'s position as Minister to Spain. The letter discusses the United States acquiring Cuba and Soule?'s dispute with the Secretary of U.S. Legation in Madrid, Horatio J. Letters discuss market conditions for sugar and molasses; the loading of cargo and the shipment of goods and major exports; the arrival of slave ships in the harbor; and the slave trade in the West Indies.
