  • Kidd, Edwin. Family Papers, 1792-1994, undated (bulk: 1836-1884). Location: UU:63. Edwin E. Kidd was a lawyer, politician, and businessman. Kidd served several terms in the Louisiana Legislature. Papers include correspondence from Edwin’s father, Wilson M. Kidd, and then later, from Edwin. Wilson M. Kidd fought in the Creek War of 1836 as a volunteer in the Alabama militia. Correspondece recounts Wilson Kidd's experiences in the militia and Edwin Kidd's education, experiences in the Civil War, and post-war political career. In addition to correspondence the collection includes photographs, receipts, legal documents, and genealogical information. Mss. 5178.

LSU alumnus, conductor of the swing band Johnny Kidd and His Orchestra, and member of Owen Reed and the Playhouse Orchestra.   • Kidd, W. P. (William P.), 1894-1947. Papers, 1872-1942 (bulk 1916-1923). 53 items, 9 vols. Location: UU:126, OS:K, 99:K. Native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Served in the 42nd Division, A.E.F. during WWI; he later served on the Mexican border. Papers relate to Kidd's military experiences in Europe during WWI. They contain photographs, printed material, and maps. Maps show British, French, Italian and American font lines. Newspaper clippings describe draft lists for Baton Rouge and victory parades for returning soldiers. Other items include Gen. Pershing's farewell to the 'Rainbow Unit;' histories of Camp Nicholls, the 1st Louisiana Infantry, the 39th Infantry Division, U. S. A., and a WWII Army Emergency Relief Fund benefit program. Collection is comprised of papers and photographs. He was the son of James Kilbourne, M.D. and grandson to the planter, jurist and state legislator James Gilliam Kilbourne. Papers contain correspondence, personal papers, genealogical material, printed items and photographs pertaining to the Kilbourne family and Clinton. Mss. 2891.

Planter, jurist, state legislator, Confederate captain, and member of the law firm Fuqua and Kilbourne of East Feliciana Parish, Louisiana. Letters from James O. Fuqua pertain principally to clients but also give some information concerning local politics and living conditions in Baton Rouge. Letters from others pertain to law suits and local politics. Included is a letter in which James O. Fuqua discusses the eagerness of some citizens to take the Amnesty Oath and civilian comments on the outcome of the Civil War, and the freedmen. Planter, jurist, state legislator, Confederate captain, and member of the law firm Fuqua and Kilbourne of East Feliciana Parish, Louisiana. Collection contains personal and business papers of three generations of the Kilbourne family. Papers include documents related to Kilbourne's legal career, Civil War letters from Kilbourne to his wife, and records of the Comite Plantation. She attended Goucher College and Johns Hopkins, and taught at Silliman Female Collegiate Institute, Clinton, Louisiana; and married Eldridge Smith of Mississippi. The collection consists primarily of personal letters Kilbourne received when she was teaching in Clinton and Bayou Sara, Louisiana. Correspondents are relatives and friends from Clinton, Wilson, and Bayou Sara. Letters (originals and transcriptions) refer to the embargo in the West Florida Rebellion, slaves for hire, and alleged mistreatment by the United States of the rights of persons in the Mississippi Territory after the annexation of the Florida Parishes to the Union.
