Contains two volumes on Governor Huey P. Long, including the Rules of Procedure for his impeachment trial in the state senate signed by Long, his aides, state legislators and senate staff. Also includes materials from Knott’s failed state senate campaign in 1940 and the will of Clara Long Knott, the older sister of Governors Huey and Earl Long and the sister-in-law of Knott. Cotton planters of Clinton, East Feliciana Parish, Louisiana, and proprietors of Clinton Brick and Tile Company and the East Louisiana Land Investment Company. Letters (1861-1863) from Granville L. Alspaugh to his mother describe his service in the Confederate Army at Vicksburg. Papers (1851-1893) also reflect social, personal, and business matters, including the sale of cotton through factors in New Orleans. Letters of Robert Granville Knox (1890-1899) describe student life at Louisiana State University, his partnership in a drugstore in Hammond, La., and his participation in the Spanish American War, with Roosevelt's Rough Riders. Later correspondence (1900-1921) include letters written to Miss Elise Walker by soldiers during World War I.   • Koch, Christian D. Family Papers, 1829-1912 (bulk 1845-1900). 3,526 items, 24 vols. Location: U:186-195, H:14. Koch family was of Danish descent and settled near Pearlington, Hancock County, Mississippi. Christian Koch was a master of a schooner. Early correspondence describes farm life and operating a schooner on the Pearl River and along the Gulf Coast. Civil War letters describe the privations of war, and later papers detail the family's movements in Montana. H.P.G. Koch, nephew of Christian, discusses how a German Jew passenger was the butt of jokes and fined $5 for smoking on the wharf in Charleston, South Carolina. For further information, see online catalog. Diary describes Koch's five-year travels as an apprentice to sea captains.   • Kramer, Edward J. Subpoena, 1900. 1 letter. Location: MISC:K. Dr. Fannie W. Oakey was the daughter of Tristram Allen (-1865) and was married to attorney John Oakey. She was a doctor who practiced electro-therapeutic gynecology at the Brooklyn Post Graduate School of Clinical Electro-Therapeutics of Brooklyn, New York. This is a subpoena from attorney Edward J. Kramer dated October 1, 1900 commanding Fannie W. Oakey of Brooklyn to appear before the Honorable William J. Maynor at the County Court House in the borough of Queens on October 2, 1900 in a case involving plaintiff Adelina Grimaldi and defendant George Michaels. Mss. 822.

  • Kupfer, Donald H. (Donald Harry), 1918-. Papers, 1942-1996. 2 linear ft. Faculty in the Department of Geology at LSU. His area of research was salt domes, and he mapped four Louisiana salt domes. He ran a consulting firm, Grimco, and participated in studies regarding storage of radioactive waste in salt domes. The Kupfer Papers consist of course material, typescripts, photographs, maps, and depositions pertaining to Donald Kupfer's career as a Geology professor, researcher, and industrial mineral consultant for Grimco.
