Obadiah Amacker was an officer in the 3rd (Wingfield's) Regiment, Confederate cavalry. Papers include a Civil War diary of Abigail Amacker, and a list of the officers and men of the first company to leave St. Helena Parish as part of the 4th Louisiana Infantry. Confederate records transcribed from the State Library Commission document. A printed pamphlet contains genealogical records. Description
Ravenswood Plantation property map, 1859. 1 manuscript map. Location: OS:R. Manuscript copy (created in 1859 by William J. McCulloh) of an 1826 township and range map (T.9N.R.10E.) showing the district north of Red River, Louisiana (chiefly areas in Concordia Parish and Tensas Parish). Handwritten notations identify Ravenswood Plantation as north of Lake St. John, southeast of Fletcher's Lake, and south of Azucena. "Yzanga" is written within the Ravenswood property note. Other handwritten notations of names include G. Ralston within the Azucena property note, George Marshall, and S. P. Duncan. Map also includes a table of contents with other claimants' names. John Maxwell (of the Surveyor's Office, Washington, Mississippi) is identified as surveyor of the land in 1829 as well. Mss. 5037.

Description
Fort Jackson engineering sketches, 1841-1858, 51 items. Location: OS:F. Fort Jackson is an historic fort located 40 miles from the mouth of the Mississippi River in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana. Engineering sketches of Fort Jackson in Plaquemines Parish, which were sent to Major P. G. T. Beauregard in 1858.  Sketch (1856) shows the shoreline of the Mississippi River near the fort drawn under the direction of Major Beauregard. Although the sketches predate the Civil War, the fort played a significant role during the war. Mss. 1343.

Perkins, Huel D. Papers, 1952-1990 (bulk 1978-1990). 9 linear ft. Location: 33A:31-35, OS:P. Faculty member at Louisiana State University, where he served as Assistant Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs (1979-1990) and as Executive Assistant to the Chancellor and Special Assistant to the Chancellor (1990-1998). In 1988, Governor Buddy Roemer appointed him to the State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE). The collection documents the business affairs of BESE during Huel D. Perkins' tenure on the Board. Materials consist of minutes, correspondence, speeches, reports, and printed material. Subject matter relates to state and federal regulations, vocational/technical education, educational reforms, special education, and the Louisiana Quality Education Support Fund, also known as the 8(g) Fund.The collection also pertains to Perkins' involvement in higher education and the study of the humanities during his tenure as professor and administrator at Southern University and Louisiana State University. The Grand Lodge of the State of Mississippi was established in Natchez, Miss., on July 27, 1818. This certificate naming the officers of the Grand Lodge of the State of Mississippi for the year 1825 bears the signatures of the following officers: Israel Loring, Grand Master; Elijah Smith, Deputy Grand Master; Joseph Dunbar, Senior Grand Warden; and John A.
