Lincoln, Rod M. Collection, 1933-1983. 2 linear ft. Location: C:117-118, OS:L, 65:60. The Freeport Sulphur Co., established in 1912, founded the town of Port Sulphur, La. in 1933 to establish a base for its mining operations. Rod M. Lincoln was the supervisor of Training and Development. Photographs, construction drawings, printed items and papers relating to Freeport Sulphur Co. and the town of Port Sulphur. Material documents various aspects of facilities and mining operations of the Freeport Sulphur Company, Louisiana. Most of the photographs depict the Grande Ecaille Mine, Grandeport, and Port Sulphur, Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana. Mss. 4059.

Consists of correspondence, legal and business papers, printed items, and photographs concerning the Dewees and related Postell, Gadsden, Lyman, and Colcock families, planters and slaveholders near Charleston, South Carolina and Eunice, Louisiana. Includes land and slave sale documents, tax receipts, stocks and bonds, court decisions, wills, deeds, estate settlements, marriage certificates, and property settlements. Photographs include two manuscript volumes: one a photograph album and the other a memory book with photographs and newspaper clippings. There are 185 loose photographs, most portraits of family members (1851-ca. 1920). Mss. 3089.

Derman, Herbert. Scrapbook, 1937-1939. 1 volume. OS:D, AA:. Herbert Derman earned a Bachelor of Science from Louisiana State University in 1941, followed by a medical degree in 1943. Scrapbook contains newspaper clippings dated from 1937-1939. Most are from the Daily Reveille and pertain to the LSU football team. Others concern campus social events, such as speakers, dances, military parades, campus improvements, Homecoming, and political cartoons. Additional newspapers featured include the New Orleans Item and Knoxville News-Sentinel. Due to the fragility of the original, patrons must use digital scans. Mss. 5241.

The J. Fair Hardin Collection includes correspondence, proofs, drafts, reports, maps, articles, and speeches, as well as research materials created or collected by Hardin. The papers pertain to his efforts to mark historical sites in Louisiana (especially the Presidio de Nuestra Seänora del Pilar de Los Adaes site in Natchitoches Parish, La.). Location: Misc.:C.  A printed petition submitted to the First District Court of New Orleans on behalf of John Benjamin Chandler, the son and heir of Rachel Bannister. In his petition, Chandler claims Joseph Landis, the executor of the estate sold his inheritance of property and slaves in Orleans and Jefferson parishes, and misused of the proceeds. Mss. 5282.
