Cordier, Marie Noel. Slave Mortgage, 1858-1860. 5 items. Location: Misc.: C. Freewoman of color who resided in New Orleans, Louisiana. A mortgage and receipts (in French) concern the conveyance of slaves, and a document from the Office of Mortgages of the City of New Orleans in the Parish of Orleans (in English) states no other mortgages standing in the name of Marie Noel Cordier. Saint-Maxent Family History and Genealogy, 1795-1972. 1 v. Location: A:118. Gilbert Antoine de St. Maxent played a major role in the development of French and Spanish Louisiana. Volume contains correspondence, clippings, printed articles, genealogies, family histories, and legal  and church records pertaining to the family history of Gilbert Antoine de Saint-Maxent and his descendants. The volume is almost entirely comprised of photocopies of the originals. A few 20th century original letters are included. Some items in Spanish and French. Mss. 5255.

Description
Graham, Alice Walworth. Correspondence, 1973-1980. 7 items. MISC:G. Novelist and native of Natchez, Mississippi. Three letters and four Christmas cards written by Graham to James Mitchell, a book collector and Mississippi native living in Massachusetts. Mitchell wrote to authors from his native state, including Graham, asking them to sign copies of their books. He eventually collected hundreds from writers such as Eudora Welty and Shelby Foote. After writing to Graham, the two developed a friendship that is reflected in this correspondence. Mss. 5274.
