Papers contain photographic copies of two letters, printed items and photographs. Letters relate to the candidacy of Ruffin Golson Pleasant (May 8, 1907) and Baton Rouge election results, La. (Jan. 1914). Printed items include relate to local businesses and St. Joseph’s Church, Baton Rouge. Parker, John Milliken, 1863-1939. Testimonial dinner photograph, 1917 Jan. 8. 4 photographic prints. Location: 65:5. John M. Parker was governor of Louisiana from 1920 to 1924. The collection consists of one gelatin silver print mounted on board, created by Covert Photo of New Orleans on January 8, 1917, and three enlargement copy prints of the original for a banquet given in honor of John M. Parker in recognition of his services rendered in the election of Woodrow Wilson during the presidential campaign of 1916. Mss. 3277.

St. Denis, Louis Juchereau, chevalier de, 1676-1744. Division of property agreement, 1758 Mar. 8. 1 agreement. Location: Misc. Louis Juchereau de St. Denis was a Canadian-born French adventurer who established the French post at Natchitoches in 1714 and began contraband trade with the nearby Spanish colonists in Texas. This agreement divides the lands from the succession of Louis St. Denis in Natchitoches Parish, La. It describes the locations of two areas of land (27 and 11 arpents) belonging to his widow and children, some of which was retained in common for their livestock. In French. Mss. 5051.

Songy, Edward Barbarouse, 1854-1943. Family photograph, circa 1916. 2 photographic prints. Location: 65:5. The Songy Planting Co., Ltd., was incorporated in 1906 with Alfred Songy, president; Edward Songy, vice-president; and P.G. Songy, secretary and treasurer, to carry on the business of a sugar plantation in St. John the Baptist Parish, La. A 5 x 7 in. original albumen print mounted on an 8 x 10 in. board depicts a family portrait of the Songy family on the front porch steps of a house. Mss. 4081.

He informs her that her husband died of yellow fever while at sea. The letter describes his activities before setting sail and his fear of contracting the disease. Ballinger, John Henry, 1775-1815. Letter, 1812 May 25. 1 letter. Location: Misc. Colonel John Ballinger was among the revolutionaries who captured the Spanish fort at Baton Rouge in the West Florida Revolution of September 1810. John Ballinger, New Orleans, writes to Fulwar Skipwith at his Montesano Plantation near Baton Rouge discussing a memorial from the Louisiana state constitutional convention requesting the annexation of West Florida to the new state of Louisiana. He also briefly notes public opinion on the likelihood of war with England. Mss. 5053.
