We all ought to put some skin in the game
TONY CLAYTON by RaeDiance Fuller, 2017
You may not like this, but I'm going to say it anyway. I'm somewhat offended by the heirs looking for some type of reparation. Suing for a billion dollars. I think that's ridiculous. I think it's not rooted in any substance or logic or common sense. Because slavery was legal back at the time they sold my great-great-great-great-great grandfather. So therefore, there's no recourse because it was the law of the land. Do I subscribe and support that? Absolutely not. But you can't sue with that. I think it’s a missed opportunity with my newfound relatives that they are misguided in their venture. The trajectory of this new relationship should be one of creating a bond, creating a relationship with Georgetown so that kids like me can go and get educated there. I think Isaac Hawkins’ relatives who have somewhat worked hard and made it, I think we all . . . we all, and quote me on this, ought to put some skin in the game with this. Because it's about helping that kid who's less fortunate than the rest of us. Let's put together a big pot, create something here. So that kids who look like me and out of all 272 can have an opportunity to get this so-called Ivy League education that emanated from Georgetown University. Link to Biography
