Lyon-Coxe, Mary. Letter, 1808. 1 letter. Location: MISC: L. Mary Lyon-Coxe, born Mary Hamilton, was the widow of Captain James Lyon who died in 1775 while serving in the 35th regiment of foot in the British military.  This is a personal letter from Mary Lyon-Coxe dated October 14, 1808 and addressed to "your Royal Highness" offering the use of her cottage within five miles of Portsmouth by Gosport and nine miles by Portchester. The letter also mentions that her son, Lieutenant Colonel Lyon, is well and serving in Portugal. Mss. 822.

Jones, George Noble. Bill in Equity, circa 1840-1876. 1 item. Location: MISC: J. George Noble Jones was born in 1811 to Noble Wimberly Jones and Sarah Fenwick Jones, and was the grandson of Noble Jones, founder of Wormsloe Plantation near Savannah, Georgia, and was himself the owner of several plantations. This is a copy of a bill in equity, undated, for George Noble Jones and Mary N. Jones vs. Mary Nuttall and Hector W. Braden. The bill concerns stocks, slaves, and land from a Florida plantation owned by Mary Nuttall Jones, widow of William B. Nuttall, who remarried to George Noble Jones on May 18, 1840. Mss. 822.

Anna Boynton Thompson, teacher and student of philosophy, was born on September 10, 1848, in Portland, Maine, the daughter of Harriot Boynton (Sawyer) and William A. Thompson. Two documents of Anna Boynton Thompson, a will and a letter concerning property. The first document is the last will and testament of Anna Boynton Thompson dated February 8, 1909 from South Braintree, Massachusetts, which leaves most of her estate to her sister Mary Francis Thompson and is witnessed by Martha J Henderson and Hedwig M. Biewald. The second document is a letter from Ezra H. Balkner in the Radcliffe College Treasurer's Office in Boston, Massachusetts dated December 18, 1919 to Anna Boynton Thompson concerning annuities from property that her mother had owned. Mss. 822.

Description
Morris, Martin. Correspondence, 1918, 1932, 1952. 13 items. Location: Misc. M. Native of Napoleonville, Louisiana, served as a corporal in the United States Army in September 1918. Ten World War I letters written by Martin Morris to members of his family in Napoleonville, Louisiana. In his letters, Morris discusses his health, military life and playing in the 812th Infantry Band. He comments that in some respects the Army treats a black man equal to a white man (Sept. 7, 1918). He mentions an outbreak of influenza in Chicago, and he reports that a quarantine had been enforced at Camp Grant due to the outbreak of influenza (Sept. 26, 1918). Willie Morris' draft card (Sept. 12, 1918) and an empty envelope addressed to him (Sept. 30, 1952) are also included. A letter from L. R. Jackson, of Houston, Texas, to his brother-in law, Joe Green, in Winston, Texas concerns rent and digging for a treasure (July 30, 1932). Mss. 3699

Description
Ward, Samuel Parkhurst. Papers, 1859-1920. 55 items, 3 v. Locations: Misc.: W, O:24. The collection consists of papers and account books. The papers contain accounts, notes requesting medical visits, and printed material. Printed material includes several newspaper clippings on politics, church news and remedies for livestock diseases (undated). Account books, v. 1 (1859-1869, 1884-1886) and v. 2 (1870-1905) list accounts with patients for medical visits and medicine dispensed. The first volume contains entries for medical visits to slaves prior to the end of the Civil War. There is a notation on page 83 of v. 1 of a payment made with Confederate currency. This volume also has newspaper clippings relating to poetry, obituaries and personal advice glued to the front cover and the first few pages of the volume. Account book, v. 3. (1890-1906), lists accounts with customers for general merchandise, cotton shipments, as well as medical visits and medicine dispensed. Mss. 3540, 3699.
